Who are we?

St. Paul Radio is a Kanawha Valley Catholic lay apostolate dedicated to the development of Catholic radio to spread the good news of Christ, the Light, and the Catholic Faith to the people of our region. St. Paul Radio is a West Virginia non-profit corporation and a § 501(c) (3) organization under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.

WLUX 1450 AM

We are building and operating a 24 hour radio station at 1450 on the AM frequency called WLUX. LUX means the Light. WLUX is licensed for Dunbar, WV, and is the first Catholic radio station in our region. WLUX 1450 AM will reach nearly 200,000 potential listeners. It is the Catholic Voice.

Church endorsement

Pope Benedict XVI has explained the work of Catholic radio: "Patient sowing, carried on day after day, hour after hour, is one way of cooperating in the apostolic mission." In 2008, our Bishop urged "all in the Diocease of Wheeling-Charleston to commit themselves to a meaningful celebration of the Year of St. Paul and to a significant engagement in our Diocesan evangelization initiative." Our Bishop has specifically endorsed St. Paul Radio and its mission in the spirit of our patron to spread the Catholic Faith to others.

Funding

St. Paul Radio is funded by contributions of the Catholic faithful in the Kanawha Valley and elsewhere who will help to fulfill the command to spread the good news of our Lord. Only through the regular small and large contributions of lay persons will St. Paul Radio survive and flourish.

We ask first for the prayers of the faithful that our radio apostolate may flourish and prosper to achieve its mission in service to the Church and the people of God.
